Job description

Senior Trader for North Sea or Mediterranean Crude Oil
Compensation -£120,000 - £200,000 Plus Bonus and Benefits (inc % of book bonus)

Location - London

Role Summary:

In this position, you will be responsible for cultivating the Crude Oil trading portfolio in the Mediterranean and North Sea regions, effectively managing associated trading risks, and contributing to commercial success through strategic marketing and trading activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage Crude Oil trading strategies in the Mediterranean and North Sea markets
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure the successful execution of physical and financial trades
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, clients, and other counterparts in Mediterranean and European markets
  • Achieve annual Crude Oil purchase and sales performance targets
  • Efficiently execute end-to-end processes for negotiating business contract terms, reviewing contract texts, coordinating contract approval and execution, and managing risks
  • Strengthen existing client relationships through regular visits to understand their requirements and future supply and demand potential
  • Conduct market research, evaluate new opportunities, and develop new clients, markets, varieties, and models in the Mediterranean
  • Ensure all trading activities adhere to company guidelines and standards, operating within the designated authority
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with the company’s internal business processes and internal controls management system
  • Undertake tasks within the scope of the role as required

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade and Shipping, Petrochemicals, Marketing, or a related subject
  • Proven trading experience in the Mediterranean and North Sea Crude Oil markets
  • Strong operational understanding and discipline in managing trading positions
  • Demonstrable experience in developing new business in the international Crude Oil market
  • Utilize fundamental and technical data to support trading strategies and manage associated risks
  • High awareness and sensitivity to the Crude Oil and petroleum products market, with risk control capabilities
  • Effective communication across all levels of the company and wider Group
  • Experience presenting ideas and opinions, both in writing and verbally, with clarity and confidence
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Enthusiastic outlook with the ability to motivate staff
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities and teamwork behaviours
  • Additional language skills would be advantageous
