Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you'll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here's how:

We're hiring Data Science experts. You'll be working in our AI team, helping to deliver world class customer experiences. The faster we can serve our customers, the quicker we can work towards our Plan Zero goals.

This role in a nutshell:

As a Senior Data Scientist at OVO, you will be at the forefront of using AI to enhance customer experiences. You'll work as a team to develop and implement innovative solutions that optimise user interactions and personalise services. Your expertise will drive the delivery of innovative AI-powered features, ensuring OVO remains a leader in providing seamless and tailored experiences for our customers.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Advanced Modeling and Deployment: Take ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of sophisticated machine learning models (including GenAI, language and computer vision models) from conceptualization to deployment and ongoing maintenance in production environments. You will apply your expertise in Python and SQL to develop these models on the GCP platform, adhering to the highest standards of model governance and ethical AI practices.
  • Leadership in Methodology Selection: Lead the selection and application of the most appropriate data science methodologies for each use case. This may range from developing complex machine learning algorithms to designing data structures, labels and labeling protocols for effective implementation of the data-driven solutions.

  • Engineering Excellence: Leverage your deep understanding of engineering principles to design, develop, and deploy scalable and reproduceable data models and algorithms. Lead initiatives to enhance data accessibility and maturity across the organisation, promoting automation and innovative use of data.
  • Experimentation and Insights Generation: Design and implement sophisticated experiments to extract, merge, manage, and analyse data from diverse sources, delivering tailored insights to stakeholders. Utilise advanced visualisation tools to communicate these insights effectively.

Within your first 3 months month you'll:

  • Make a measurable impact on customer experience
  • Conduct analysis to find opportunities for model enhancements
  • Plan and deliver the development of improvements to existing ML models.
  • Measure and communicate impacts of the changes to key customers

  • Advanced Analytical Techniques: Proficiency in a wide range of statistical, machine learning, and data mining techniques. Experience in Natural Language Processing and GenAI are highly desirable
  • Expertise in Cloud and Data Science Tools: Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (specifically GCP / VertexAI), machine learning frameworks, and data science tooling (SQL, Python, GitHub).
  • Strategic Thinking and Communication: Ability to translate complex business requirements into data science opportunities. Skilled in presenting sophisticated concepts to senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional project teams to successful deployment.
  • Professional Growth and Collaboration: A growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Experience in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Education and Additional Skills: A degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering). Experience with scheduling platforms like Kubeflow and an understanding of advanced programming principles are highly desirable
