Senior Design Draughtsperson

At Gyproc, we are looking for a Senior Design Draughtsperson to work in our Technical and Production team based out of our Loughborough, Leicestershire site to lead the team providing design engineering and drafting services for the development of new equipment and processes and supporting all engineering projects undertaken by GMT.

You will be able to transfer various modern design ideas and process solutions into practical machines and equipment and develop the associated 3-D models and manufacturing drawings. As the lead person in the GMT Drawing office, you will also be responsible for maintaining the library of Auto CAD and Inventor designs and providing guidance to other permanent and contract drafts persons on their use.

The Senior Design Draughtsperson will be a key cog on-site managing a team of up to three contractors; this is a fantastic opportunity to excel your career to the next level working in an international multi-skilled team within a drawing office where we are using modern design techniques, 3D Design with automated functionality,3D scanning existing factories, Virtual Reality

Saint Gobain Gyproc is one of 35+ Saint-Gobain brands and has been a market leader in the lightweight interior construction space for more than 3 decades. GMT is a team cooperating with multiple SG Gypsum businesses around the world. We develop, design, and build new gypsum factories and update existing sites with new equipment and processes.

What we are looking for:

• 3D Design experience and 2D drawings - starting from detail design and finish on a big-scale factory layout.
• Highly experience to lead, manage, and support Drawing Office team members
• The ability to allocate drafting resources to new projects to balance workload
• Mechanical Engineering Design experience.
• Knowledge of Auto desk software such as Inventor, Vault, Inventor iLogic coding experience required
• Auto CAD and, ideally exposure to Revit
• To be agile - easily adapt to new or improved standards of working and new software releases.

What you will be doing:

• Drafting and design work with Engineers, Project Managers and Stakeholders on the projects using Auto desk and invertor
• Managing a team of 3 Contractors, learning the process to be able to teach, mentor, lead motivate and eventually grow the team
• Controlling jobs and job allocation, allocating drafting resources to new projects to balance workload
• Provide technical assistance for complex project discussions, contribute to design process discussions with ideas, and follow engineers' instructions.
• Provide design engineering and develop manufacturing documentation for new and modified equipment developed by GMT
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS) when needed.
