Job description

Are you a hands-on engineer with a passion for designing and validating innovative products? We are currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our client's dynamic team.



Salary: £50K - £55K



The successful candidate will have a proven track record in prototyping and validating product designs. As the Senior Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in meticulously planning and managing the validation process. In addition, you will have the opportunity to lead new product development projects in line with the stage gate process.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Plan, allocate, and manage all project tasks to ensure completion within the agreed timescales.

  • Produce and supervise the production of all project technical drawings, utilising 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawings.

  • Prototype designs and manage the preparation of test samples.

  • Generate test plans to validate the product, coordinating all tests to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

  • Analyse test results and make informed conclusions to decide on the next steps.

  • Produce and maintain all project documentation, including test records, test reports, and design documentation following QA procedures.

  • Work closely with the certification engineering team, providing full support with schedule drawings and overseeing third-party witness tests to achieve product certification.

  • Create and supervise the creation of all parts lists/bill of materials in line with QA procedures.

  • Coordinate with the production teams to ensure all components are designed for manufacture/assembly and confirm cost targets have been achieved.

  • Provide technical support to the product management/sales teams in terms of product information, problem-solving, and application training when required.

  • Requirements:



    • Previous hands-on engineering experience with a focus on prototyping and validating product designs.

    • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawings.

    • Strong organisational and project management skills.

    • Attention to detail and meticulous approach to planning and validation.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to guide others to work to the test plan.

    • Proven ability to lead new product development projects.

    • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.

    • Strong communication skills and ability to provide technical support to cross-functional teams.
