Senior Development Engineer

Here's what you'll be doing

We have an exciting opportunity for x2 Senior Development Engineers to join our Design & Development team. For this role, you will be responsible for leading Development Engineers, working in collaboration with the Sales, Construction, Operations & Maintenance and Commercial Teams, generating commercially compelling concept designs, through to full engineering Construction' information packages aligned to meet our customers' requirements. You will provide our customers engineering solutions that offer a mix of problem resolution, energy profile reduction and a low carbon functionality to help future-proof their business operations and costs. This role is homebased, with frequent nationwide travel required.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading for innovation in developing innovative energy systems i.e., heat pumps, solar PV (roof and ground mount), large scale batteries etc.
  • Oversee and provide in depth analysis of Key Project Development Metrics ensuring commercial content meets the customer and projects requirements.
  • Building relationships with customers to understand, manage and predict their requirements.
  • Responsible for the development budgets along with business conversion GM level through close collaboration with all Teams.
  • Manage the concept design output of agreed design activity programmes to time, cost, quality and safety targets, maintaining a zero defects culture.
  • Monitor the Development Engineers workload ensuring the project design portfolio performs against time, cost, environmental, quality and safety indicators.
  • Allocate workload, monitor resources and ensure business and project objectives are maintained.
  • Ensure competitiveness of all projects by utilising existing supplier frameworks or via competitive tender of works packages through whole asset lifecycle.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience of designing large scale heat pumps in commercial industries.
  • B.Eng / M.Eng, MSc qualification or HND / proven experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, Materials or Chemical Engineering
  • Good understanding of the application of CDM Regulations & RIBA Stages of Design.
  • Proven experience within an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering / Energy Consulting Sector.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH General Certification.
  • Experience/knowledge of industry standards (CIBSE Regulations/building services, British Standards, ISO) and the industrial sector.
  • Expertise in PV modelling software such as PVSol, PVSyst, VirtoCAD.
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel - car allowance / company car provided.
