Job description

Oxford Nanopore's goal is to bring the widest benefits to society through enabling the analysis of anything, by anyone, anywhere. The company has developed a new generation of nanopore-based sensing technology enabling the real-time, high-performance, accessible, and scalable analysis of DNA and RNA. Technology is used in more than 120 countries to understand the biology of humans and diseases, plants, animals, bacteria, viruses and whole environments.

Oxford Nanopore was founded in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford and now employs over 1200 employees around the world. Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC, and Europe. Oxford Nanopore employs multiple subject areas including nanopore science, molecular biology and applications, informatics, engineering, electronics, manufacturing, and commercialisation.

The management team, led by CEO Dr Gordon Sanghera, has a track record of delivering disruptive technologies to the market. Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.

Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere!

With the improved accuracy and stability of the nanopore sequencing platform, Oxford Nanopore Diagnostics (OND) was established as a subsidiary in 2020, to expand nanopore sequencing to clinical applications globally. This work is organised into three global workstreams: oncology; infectious disease and genetic disorders. OND is led by Dr Emma Stanton, SVP Clinical, who reports directly to Dr Gordon Sanghera.

Oxford Nanopore Technologies' core expertise lies in the research, development and manufacturing of the nanopore sequencing platform. Our strategy to be successful and impactful in clinical markets globally is heavily reliant on delivering against a successful partnership model.

ONT/D's growing list of partners range from smaller start-up companies to global, scaled enterprises, all seeking to develop clinical applications using the nanopore sequencing platform. The post holder will be accountable for delivering against specific milestones and contractual obligations with our partners.

Responsibilities:

The post holder will be responsible for direct line management of a team, several working remotely, who act as partnership relationship managers and provide direct support to each of the individual partner projects. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring visibility of the clinical partnering program within ONT/D at all levels and liaising with teams across the company to ensure successful delivery of the clinical partnership program. The Senior Director will be a strong collaborator and executor, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders (technical and non-technical leaders) across OND and ONT.
