With the improved accuracy and stability of the nanopore sequencing platform, Oxford Nanopore Diagnostics (OND) was established as a subsidiary in 2020, to expand nanopore sequencing to clinical applications globally. This work is organized into three global workstreams: oncology; infectious disease and genetic disorders.
Job Description:
As nanopore sequencing expands its clinical applications and impact, Oxford Nanopore Diagnostics is seeking a leader to curate the global opportunity funnel.
This includes leading a global team of Diagnostic Testing Solutions Managers who work towards growing our long-term business through identifying and collaborating with clinical research partners, driving translational research efforts, and identifying partners to commercialise diagnostic products.
The workstreams are broadly organised into oncology, infectious disease and genetic disorders.
This role is expected to interface with teams globally across: Americas; Europe/Middle East/Africa/India and Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Director will be responsible for contributing to ONT's clinical strategy as agreed with the SVP, Clinical and Head of OND.
This leader is expected to report regularly up to the executive team key initiatives and progress against agreed objectives for the business.
The Senior Director will regularly attend and participate at international events and conferences on behalf of OND and ONT.
The leader will be both technically strong and a strong team player and collaborator, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders (technical and commercial leaders) across OND and ONT.
What we're looking for….
- PhD, Masters degree or BSc Degree , preferably in molecular biology, biomedical sciences
- Ten or more years working in clinical research or translational segments
- 5 or more years management experience
- Knowledge of the Life Sciences and clinical markets
- Excellent communicator with ability to communicate complex information to multi-functional teams
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence across the organisation
- Ability to make decisions and act with understanding of when to escalate for further review
