Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
  • Supervise the day-to-day direction, planning, operation, administration and management of ground investigation fieldwork operations at all Fugro work sites, including support services and sub-contractors;
  • Ensure work to be carried out to maximise cost effectiveness; encourage and implement cost saving schemes and ideas;
  • Monitor procurement of third-party goods and services from suppliers and sub-contractors;
  • Repair and maintain operational marine/land plant for optimum performance, including production of operational and maintenance procedures;
  • Support sister operating companies with reference to technical advice on plant and drilling equipment;
  • Assist the foremen to carry out daily inspection and maintenance of the drilling rigs and related equipment/plant to ensure its condition to be acceptable and safe;
  • Provide technical supports to drilling operations in accordance with contract requirements and relevant government standards;
  • Supervise and assist during the repair and replacement of defective parts of drilling rigs and related equipment/plant;
  • Lead the Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environmental culture to operational staff members;
  • Ensure all site activities, plant and equipment to comply with contract requirements and statutory regulations relating to Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Assurance issues.
Qualifications preferred:
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of geotechnical site investigation plant and equipment, of which at least 3 years should be at the supervisory level;
  • Completed a trade certificate in drilling proficiency or equivalent proven professional abilities and/or relevant experience.
Skills / experience required to do the job:
  • Recognized as a geotechnical drilling expert within the industry and has substantial depth and breadth of expertise in activities associated with geotechnical drilling;
  • Front-line leadership in safety, health and the environment;
  • Capable of interpreting down-hole and external environmental issues and solving complex drilling problems using best practice;
  • Lead operational drilling teams and drilling projects;
  • Work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations;
  • English language
  • Additional regional language skills to support regional overseas projects a plus.
