The role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary managing and implementing all non-nuclear safety implicated (Non NSI) Electrical Design requests.
Day to day, you'll assist the Technical Compliance Authority Manager to maximise the utilisation and the efficiency of resource. Key responsibilities will include:
- Provider of conceptual and detailed Electrical and Building Services Engineering designs across HMNB Clyde for Naval Base Projects, Facility Managers and in house customers for projects. Also fulfil Design Authority role of setting brief/specification and review/approval of 3rd party design and monitoring implementation where necessary.
- Supporting other Naval Base and Depot Organisations with respect to reviewing and approving Design Proposals, Contract Specification Documents.
- Provides support on Base wide/Depot wide projects in accordance with programme requirements. Directing and controlling Design Engineers in design process of all conceptual and detailed designs.
- Attending all technical and organisational meetings on behalf of Babcock Marine associated with issues affecting design aspects. Achieved by performing the design authority role for Electrical services at HMNB Clyde.
Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer
- Electrical Design. Electrical Systems and Equipment (HV, LV and Hazardous Areas)
- Operational Manual Documentation for new facilities/equipment
- Statutory and Regulatory requirements including DSEAR Regulations
- Engineering Drawings and schematics
This is a full-time permanent role with hybrid working arrangements.
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Design Engineer
- HNC/HND Electrical Engineering or City & Guilds 2396-01 Level 4 Award in Design & Verifications & ideally 18th Edition - City and Guilds
- OR Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, working towards incorporated or chartered, or equivalent and proven track record.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
