THE BUSINESS
Our client is a progressive international electronics manufacturer, based in Powys, Wales.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Able to lead the development and validation of electronics circuits for variable speed inverters and associated industrial products. Work within a product development team environment to fully detail the specification and implement the specification using the latest concepts and technology. Deliver to the required timescales and quality that the project or development dictates. Knowledge of total cost of the solutions is essential.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for leading electronic hardware design within a multidiscipline product development team.
- Strong technical understand of electronics including EMC.
- Ability to understand emerging technologies see their possibilities and apply them appropriately.
- Develop designs (components, PCBs, sub-assemblies), which meet the project cost, manufacturability, reliability and quality targets.
- Capable of hosting and actively participating in specification and design reviews to ensure ‘right design, first time’ Sharing technical knowledge/experience.
- Supervise other Engineers and design work where required.
- Supports the use of development tools and processes within the project and identifies tool/process improvements where required.
- Develops design (drawings, spec, DDP, tolerance studies) and type tests documentation as required, with concise conclusions regarding outcome and necessary design corrections.
- Plans own work, to ensure design deliverables / tasks completed within schedule agreed with Product Development Manager or Project leader.
- Promotes safe working.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Degree Qualified in electrical and electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Significant industrial experience in electrical and Electronic Engineering in a product development environment.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with design & manufacturing processes for industrial electronic products.
- Experience of working to functional safety standards.
- Experience of designing for EMC compliance.
