Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management plans in accordance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments, identifying potential risks and proposing effective mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with project teams, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with environmental objectives and standards.
- Manage and coordinate environmental monitoring programs, ensuring timely data collection and analysis.
- Provide guidance on sustainable construction practices and materials to reduce the project's carbon footprint.
- Advise on ecological conservation and biodiversity enhancement measures.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of environmental permit applications.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with environmental requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of environmental professionals, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting environmental performance updates and addressing concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in environmental management, particularly on large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on highways schemes.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and permitting processes.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead a team and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or similar would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessment tools and methodologies.
- A commitment to sustainability and a passion for driving environmentally responsible practices.
