Our client is a reputable and well-established Main Contractor specializing in delivering high-quality construction projects across East Yorkshire and Yorkshire. With a proven track record of success, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join the team.
Job Summary: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the tendering process for construction projects in the region. The successful candidate will have a strong background in estimating, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
Responsibilities:
Estimation and Costing:
- Lead the estimation process for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for accurate cost assessments.
Bid Preparation:
- Prepare and submit detailed and competitive bids for construction projects.
- Work closely with the bid team to ensure timely completion and submission of tenders.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information for accurate bid proposals.
Risk Analysis:
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential challenges in construction projects.
- Provide recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure the financial viability of proposed projects.
Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Cost Control:
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction phase.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed cost reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Present cost estimates and project proposals to senior management for approval.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on main contracting.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
