Senior Estimator

Our client is a reputable and well-established Main Contractor specializing in delivering high-quality construction projects across East Yorkshire and Yorkshire. With a proven track record of success, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join the team.

Job Summary: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the tendering process for construction projects in the region. The successful candidate will have a strong background in estimating, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Estimation and Costing:

   • Lead the estimation process for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
   • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
   • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for accurate cost assessments.

2. Bid Preparation:

   • Prepare and submit detailed and competitive bids for construction projects.
   • Work closely with the bid team to ensure timely completion and submission of tenders.
   • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information for accurate bid proposals.

3. Risk Analysis:

   • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential challenges in construction projects.
   • Provide recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure the financial viability of proposed projects.

4. Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:

   • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
   • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions.

5. Cost Control:

   • Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction phase.
   • Collaborate with the project team to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Prepare detailed cost reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
   • Present cost estimates and project proposals to senior management for approval.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on main contracting.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
