What's therole about?
If you have experience of working in events with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering impactful, audience-led events then we need you to help deliver an exciting events programme to support our mission.
You’ll deliver on multiple, simultaneous projects, whilst managing various stakeholders and working with teams across the RSPB and our partner organisations. You will be an excellent communicator who will keep everyone up to speed and will bring teams and stakeholders on the journey with you along the way.
You will support the Events Development Manager in delivering innovative, highly effective, market leading events which deliver against key objectives. Responsible for the effective delivery of larger and more complex events against the RSPB’s strategic outcomes with a focus on engaging more diverse people to take action for nature (through time, money, voice and choice). Having oversight of all aspects of event delivery.
Key activities will include:
- Support the Events Development Manager to curate, develop & deliver events and experiences for our audiences.
- Research, create and produce market leading events that drive engagement within our audiences.
- Manage project budgets and monitor and report finance, raise POs and manage suppliers.
- Prepare event brief with key stakeholders to ensure that clear objectives and outcomes are set, monitored and delivered.
- Produce, project manage and deliver events and activities to an exceptionally high standard using project, communication and risk plans and documentation.
- Live management of both in-person and virtual events to ensure events run smoothly and achieves its outcomes.
- Attend and be a considered voice within workshops and project meetings, collaborating with team members to push objectives and ensuring that project needs are articulated and understood.
- Conduct robust review of each event on completion, capturing lessons learnt, recommendations, cost and efficacy against KPIs
- Provide advice, tools and support to internal teams who wish to deliver their own event
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Demonstrable Event Production and Event Project Management experience
- Experience of delivering large scale events (+100 attendees), both in-person and virtual
- Experience of developing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally with the ability to influence and deliver positive outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal skills to present, influence and represent the directorate and the organisation.
- Ability to problem solve/be reactive when required, providing innovative and creative solutions
- Ability to manage a number of conflicting or competing priorities within tight deadlines
- Ability to translate strategy into delivery, with a good understanding of how to set objectives and outcomes for an event
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience of using online events platforms
- Relevant event or project management qualification
- Understanding and commitment to RSPB's aims and values
This is a Permanent role for 37.5 hours per week. Some evening and weekend working will be required.
