An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a talented, experienced and enthusiastic communicator to join us as Senior External Communications Manager, supporting our communications on high-profile issues around fertility.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead on all aspects of the HFEA’s External Communications, including leading on a busy proactive and reactive media relations service, and managing the stakeholder relations with professional and patient organisations. As a regulator, we have a statutory duty to provide information, and a new communications strategy to make sure our reach is as wide as it can possibly be.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll play a pivotal role in our communications team. You will line manage our media officer. You will be responsible for manage the proactive and reactive media service, developing media strategies and managing relationships with journalists. You will also lead on the organisation’s stakeholder relations, including those with patient and professional organisations and lead on organising our Patient Engagement Forum. You will work closely with Communications team colleagues to ensure compelling content works across our channels to reach the full range of audiences.
You’ll have experience of working with senior colleagues, including at board level, advising them on media handling and strategies to maximise opportunities for the HFEA to receive balanced, accurate media coverage.
This post is offered as either office based (in which case you will need to attend the office at least one day per week) or home based (in which case office attendance will be specified by your line manager based on business need). Our office is in Stratford, east London, in attractive new premises on the edge of the Olympic Park, alongside several other health Arm’s Length Bodies.
