We are working with an affordable housing provider on the South coast to find an experienced housing Senior Finance Consultant to collaborate closely with the Executive Team. This is an interim part time role expected to be 3 days per week and to last approximately 3 months.
The role entails providing expert financial guidance and support to facilitate the efficient management of financial resources and the attainment of strategic goals. The Consultant will spearhead high-level financial negotiations with external stakeholders to formulate a robust and sustainable financial strategy for the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: Provide bi-weekly advice to the Board on expenditure, revenue, and cash flow, ensuring transparency in the advancement of the implemented plan. This aids in informed decision-making and ensures adherence to statutory obligations.
2. Financial Planning and Analysis: Take the lead in crafting and executing financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in accordance with organisational objectives and regulatory standards.
3. Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks and opportunities, including market fluctuations, liquidity challenges, and regulatory shifts, to safeguard the financial stability and longevity of the organisation.
4. Strategic Counsel: Offer strategic financial guidance and recommendations to senior management and the Board, facilitating informed decision-making and enhancing business performance.
5. Process Enhancement: Continuously assess and refine financial processes, controls, and systems to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and optimise resource allocation.
6. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with internal stakeholders, such as finance teams, as well as external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and funding partners, to foster collaboration and transparency.
7. Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with pertinent legislation, accounting standards, regulatory directives, and internal policies and procedures to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; preference for a Master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in a Senior Finance capacity, preferably within the housing association sector or a similar non-profit entity.
- Profound technical proficiency in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, taxation, financial regulations, and risk management practices.
- Outstanding analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving acumen.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as Omniledger (Pyramid), SAP, Oracle, and Excel.
