Job description

Senior Finance Officer

We are looking for a Senior Finance Officer to join our growing and developing finance team overseeing the financial accounting of the charity in this hybrid, flexible working role which offers an opportunity to be part of the development of the finance function.

Location: Warwick/Hybrid

Salary: £35,000 per annum plus 10% pension contributions, 28 days annual leave

Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week) flexible working available

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: Wednesday, 28th February 2024

Interview: Thursday, 7th March 2024

The Role

This role is instrumental in ensuring the charities financial and statutory compliance, whilst creating the framework for effective financial controls.

You will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of external financial reports whilst continually assessing and improving the financial reporting process to improve accuracy and create efficiency. This role also includes involvement in the external audit process alongside the Finance Manager, co-ordinating with external auditors and liaising with internal teams within the charity.

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • To provide accurate and timely financial information to key external stakeholders
  • Production of cashflow and forecasting cash position
  • To be responsible for ensuring that all month end financial tasks and reporting is undertaken
  • To oversee payroll submission and staff payments, including payroll journals and control accounts
  • Maintain monthly balance sheet controls
  • To prepare the trial balance at year end
  • Ensuring that the charity complies with charity accounting requirements
  • To oversee the grants payment processes
  • Oversee day-to-day banking relationships, cash flow planning, cashflow forecasting and investments.
  • In conjunction with the Finance Manager – to manage the external audit process.
  • Support and develop the finance system
  • To undertake the payroll process working alongside the payroll provider and Finance Officer
  • Fulfilment of VAT, PAYE , Companies House, corporation tax and other statutory reporting requirements

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will be AAT Qualified or equivalent and Educated to Level 4 or above (Level 4 NVQ).

You will

 

  • Be a part Qualified Accountant or Qualified to this level by experience.
  • Confident to work in an evolving organisation and able to help shape the High performing Finance Team within the Charity.
  • You will be able to work cross-functionally and collaboratively across the organisation and will have a proven ability to prioritise your workload and manage deadlines.
  • Have experience of creating Charity accounts.

 

 

  • Have experience of administering a payroll, managed by third party.
  • Hold a high level of experience of accounting, systems, and advanced spreadsheets.
  • Have experience of external audits including knowledge of standard accounting, charity SORP and auditing practice and financial reporting standards.
