Job Description
ABOUT US
Turning Tides, an organisation with a rich 30-year history, is a multifunctional charity dedicated to addressing complex homelessness needs in our local communities. Our unwavering mission is to put an end to homelessness in the areas we serve.
From our humble beginnings supporting a handful of individuals in the coastal town of Worthing, we’ve expanded our reach to assist more than 1,700 people across Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham, and Mid Sussex. With the support of over 10,000 dedicated champions, 300 passionate volunteers, and a committed team of 160 staff members, we’ve made significant strides towards our goal.
THE JOB
This service is a medium to low support project where residents are provided support and intervention to improve tenancy sustainment skills. Through a trauma informed and strength based approach you will move residents to permanent accommodation ensuring any ‘wrap around’ support necessary has been put in place. This may include working with mental health, substance misuse, debt service to name a few.
You will work with residents on a 121 basis and also facilitate group work. You will be supporting residents with benefits awards and other mental health or physical support needs with partner agencies and GP’s. Working with them to gain and sustain a tenancy within their locality.
Additionally, you will support the Move on Housing Manager with the housing management aspects of the project including health and safety requirements of the building and helping collect income of the service through housing benefit and residents service charge. As a senior member of the team, additional management responsibilities are part of this role, such as cover for staff leave, supervising and being an initial contact for staff on site.
This role could suit an applicant with transferrable skills who may have been in a supervisory or team lead position previously, not necessarily from within the homelessness sector.
