Job description

THE ROLE - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) / Permanent / Job description and application pack are available to download from our website.

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

is one of our 24-hour supported accommodation projects; it houses 29 young people aged 16 to 25 for up to 2 years, offering high to medium support with a support team, night team and management based onsite. Situated near the town centre in Worthing, the project has strong links with and contributes to the local community. The accommodation consists of flats where each young person has their own bedroom and shares bathroom, kitchen and living space, although the service is much more than 'just a room'.

We are looking for a Support Project Worker who can support a caseload of young people to develop living skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, managing behaviour, seeking and securing employment and making wise decisions. You will bring your own individual and unique qualities to the team for the betterment of the team dynamic. You will work on a rota shift pattern, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective and supportive staff during the day. You will develop your working knowledge of psychological models to aid in creating and finding solutions with the young people in the service. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk. In addition, you will complete reports, support plans and risk assessments on time and to a high standard.

Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays, with shifts 7am - 3pm, 9am - 5pm and 1pm - 9pm (This rota pattern is subject to review). There is a small amount of lone working, but you will get to know the team and project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

ABOUT YOU - We know there are great candidates who may not fit everything described, or who have important skills we have not mentioned. If that is you, please do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself and why perhaps you are looking to take the next step.

This is a dynamic and varied role; you will be passionate about being involved in the support and growth of young people. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience of working with young people, knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, along with an awareness of all aspects of safeguarding.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, working in a client facing role, with the ability to self-motive to drive to deliver an outstanding service. You will be an effective communicator who is able to deliver robust, clear handovers and build strong relationships with other members of your team. In addition, you will have the ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.
