Are you able to coach and support business managers to achieve their potential?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Job description

We are looking for a positive, professional Senior HR Business Consultant to join our HR team here at DVLA. You will support the HR Business Partner to deliver the people strategy at an operational level.

You will coach and support managers to lead and facilitate change, identifying people risks. You will support the business to manage the people impact in order to facilitate change as smoothly as possible.

You will analyse people data to identify issues and patterns, understand the impact of these and identify solutions.

This is an exciting, fast-paced and varied role in which no two days will be the same.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Working with the HR Business Partner in identifying business related HR issues and delivering the people strategy and plans to support the delivery of business objectives. Supporting and leading any initiatives required to implement these plans.
  • Coaching and support business managers to lead and facilitate change, taking into account risks and legal requirements.
  • Gathering and analysing MI people data to make recommendations and influence to support business improvement.

For further information about the role, please see the attached role profile.

Additional Information

Applications will be accepted from full time/part time applicants. Full time roles at DVLA consist of 37 hours per week. Part time and/or flexible working may also be available subject to the needs of the business. If you have a flexible or part time working requirement, you should contact the vacancy holder in advance of making an application to avoid possible disappointment later in the process should your desired working arrangements not be compatible with the requirements of the role. To contact the vacancy holder, please use the job contact details listed under ‘Contact point for applicants’.

This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues.

Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.

Person specification

We are looking for a confident, articulate HR professional with line management experience who can effectively lead a team and enable people to achieve their potential.

Resilience is a key quality for this role. You will action feedback and listen to suggestions as well as offering appropriate challenge.

You are able to analyse data, being curious and asking questions.

You will be comfortable communicating with conviction and sensitivity. You can influence and engage your key stakeholders, building robust relationships based on trust and capability, enabling you to identify solutions that work for all. You will support business managers whilst role modelling HR values.

You are motivated and can work in a fast-paced role balancing multiple tasks, recognising when to prioritise and delegate as appropriate. You are a good team player with a collaborative style, to ensure colleagues are supported and deadlines are met. You will bring others together with the resilience and determination to achieve goals and drive continuous improvement.
For this role you will need to be CIPD qualified at level 5, or willing to work towards this once in post.

The post may also have an area of subject matter expertise.

We strive to ensure that DVLA is a great place to work where everybody can be their true self, be treated with dignity and respect, and according to their individual needs. We have a number of staff network groups run by staff to support their colleagues.

Due to the evolving nature of the business, vacancies can become available at any time. Therefore, this campaign may create a reserve list to fulfil demand if it arises which will be held for a period of 12 months.
