Cloud and Data Centre are part of IT Infra – who provide infrastructure services to the RWE Group of companies. RWE has a Cloud First and Multi Cloud strategy – C&DC support Azure Landing Zone as well as traditional “on-premise” data centres, providing 24x7 platform services and cross functional services (Compute, Storage, DBMS, etc.) along with its Managed Service Provider partners.

Your future plans
- We’re looking for a Product Owner & technical lead for data storage platforms, backup and archive & related topics to govern the maintenance & support of RWE's Cloud and Data Centre (C&DC) platform(s) in conjunction with our internal team, Cloud Service Providers (CSP) and Managed Service Providers (MSP).
- Research, develop, build, configure, integrate & unit test future solutions for RWE's C&DC storage services based on the functional & technical specifications
- Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies in RWE's C&DC storage services
- Communicate and define RWE IT technology requirements and standards to our MSP teams and ensure adherence as well as to provide technical leadership to the teams
- Define and maintain the C&DC Operations managed service work packages ensuring RWE IT requirements are correctly translated into MSP deliverables
- Input to capacity management & optimisation planning
- Contribute to & support RWE’s Security policies with technical implementations & recommendations relevant to the storage area, including Disaster recovery, data protection, ransomware, …
- Measure the C&DC Operations managed service delivery against the agreed KPIs
- Represent RWE IT at Change Advisory Boards as required with a focus on C&DC Services
- Play an active and/or coordinating role in Problem, Incident and Change activities. This includes:
- Actively managing related incidents in Service Now (RWE’s ITSM tool)
- Actively managing incidents raised with Service Providers (CSP and/or MSP)
- Taking a lead in complex resolutions &/or escalations together with MSP’s and other technical teams.
- Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
- Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems in RWE's C&DC Platforms / Services
- Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing in RWE's C&DC Platforms / Services
- Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
Your skills
- Significant experience & deep technical background on storage, backup, and archive systems, focusing on Microsoft Azure & traditional data-centre SAN arrays.
- Deep solution knowledge in areas of Azure Storage (blob, elastic SAN, disk storage , data lake/big data etc) & traditional data centre storage solutions (SAN & NAS arrays, onboard disk, RAID, compression / Deduplication, HSM etc)
- Deep solution knowledge of backup & archive solutions from Azure & traditional DC (TSM, CommVault, Azure Archive, etc)
- Understand fundamentals of storage to a deep level ( block, file, object, database data protection, snap-shotting, replication & data restoration
- Knowledge of automated processes for using & enhancing system optimisation & resilience, with regards to storage solutions.
- Good knowledge of ITIL processes / model and of the DevOps model
- Knowledge of End-to-end application operations processes
- Knowledge of Asset and Configuration Management and Incident and Problem Management
- Experience of managing various and conflicting technical and business demands
- Able to assess impact and communicate to managed service, infrastructure and application teams
- Self-reliant and able to work to own initiatives
- Ability to work under pressure – patient, tolerant and resilient
- Fluency in spoken and written English, including technical and business terms
- Cultural awareness and willingness to travel (largely between UK and Germany)
Advantageous
- Coding skills with emphasis on cloud
- Familiarity and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) and change automation tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform
- Broad understanding of the RWE's business and the strategic drivers which influence the Cloud
- environment requirements.
