Job description

Do you have attention to detail, great problem-solving skills, and an ability to communicate with a wide range of people on a daily basis, then a role in Internal Audit at the University of Brighton may be for you.

We are seeking an individual with knowledge of risk, internal control, and audit practices to join our in-house Internal Audit team here in Brighton, where we put students at the heart of what we do.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver audit and assurance services across the education sector, at both the University of Brighton and as the lead auditor for the University of Brighton Academies Trust (comprising 14 schools across Sussex).

Your new role covers all aspects of internal audit, from supporting the Director of Internal Audit in planning the audits as well as undertaking a wide and varied programme of reviews, both financial and non-financial.  This role comes with a high degree of autonomy, so you will need to be self-motivated and proactive, and you will have the opportunity to develop and impact operational improvements within the team.  The job description/person specification available via the 'Apply' button provides more details of the role and requirements.

To be successful in this position you will already have:

  • A relevant professional qualification and an understanding of financial/accounting/business systems
  • An understanding of the principles of internal control and the management of risk
  • The ability to build professional relationships and establish trust with clients

In return, we offer a wide range of benefits including:

  • Agile/hybrid working
  • Use of the University’s sports and recreational facilities
  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement

This post is on a full-time (37.0 hours per week), and permanent basis.

Part-time candidates will be considered, and we also welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.

For an informal discussion regarding this position please contact Barry Frankham, Director of Internal Audit on 01273642724.
