A proactive IT Technician is needed to join the ICT team of a highly regarded employer at their East Devon office in Ottery St. Mary. Senior IT Technician - The Role:
The Senior IT Technician will support the IT Manager and be responsible for resolving application and system issues that arise across the organisation which is currently using on premise servers and is preparing to move to Microsoft Azure platform. Duties will include:
- Supporting the IT services department to deliver ICT support to users at all levels.
- The design, documentation, installation and maintenance of ICT and associated equipment across the whole organisation, deputising for the Network Manager when required.
- Contributing to the strategic planning and compliance with industry standards and requirements including ITIL and the organisation’s cyber security needs.
- Offering all levels of IT help, support, training and maintenance to all users.
- Supporting the IT Manager with the organisation’s next generation firewall and its associated dependencies such as filtering, logging, and authentication services.
- Supporting the IT Manager with testing the continuous development of disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- Providing 2nd line technical support as well as a proactive, effective support for all users.
- Assisting with Microsoft 365 application development in SharePoint and Teams and being responsible for the SharePoint site structure.
- Management of both Entra and Active Directory.
- Management and development of cloud services and storage such as AWS and Azure.
- Supporting the IT Manager with implementation of projects, providing training and support to users.
- Supporting and deploying a range of IT hardware assets including PCs, Laptops, Mobile Devices and associated peripherals.
- Effectively communicating with users of all levels of seniority and IT proficiency, in person, by telephone and email. Applying a customer-focused approach; taking ownership of problems, keeping users informed of progress, understanding the impact, seeking feedback and always striving to improve.
- Taking part in skills sharing and having a willingness to learn new systems and processes to ensure you can always provide support to the best of your ability.
- Helping to identify trends and working with to eliminate preventable issues, dealing with root causes.
Senior IT Technician - The Person:
You will have a track record working in a technical support role with the ability to diagnose and rectify a wide range of computer hardware and software problems.
You will possess excellent attention to detail and be able to work using your own initiative within a team environment. A confident communicator, you’ll be able to build rapport with colleagues at all levels and deliver training when appropriate.
Specific experience needed includes:
- Configuration of windows-based PCs.
- Updating/patching processes and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Knowledge of principles around Cyber Security.
- Configuring and maintaining TCP/IP, Vlans and other networking protocols on servers and hardware such as switches/routers.
Desirable experience includes:
- Knowledge of website design/maintenance.
- Understanding of legal issues surrounding ICT e.g. data protection and GDPR.
- Managing Android and IOS devices using Intune.
- Microsoft Cloud Services including Azure, Entra ID, SharePoint Office online and OneDrive.
- Knowledge of SIEM services.
- Windows deployment, management and update services, such as WSUS, InTune and System centre.
Senior IT Technician - The Rewards:
Salary: £27,500 - £30,900pa plus benefits including holiday, superb pension, free parking, as well as ongoing training and development.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours, 8:30am - 4:30pm Mon - Thurs, 8:30am - 4pm Fri
Location: Office based, Ottery St Mary
