The Finance and Planning Directorate in NHS England is looking for talented, diverse, highly motivated people to join the Financial Control team as Senior Lead – Consolidation Development.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of the NHS. Across the directorate as a whole we:
• work closely with government to agree NHS funding;
• ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget set by Parliament;
• decide how to distribute the funding to the different NHS services and parts of England;
• support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services;
• set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year;
• report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year;
• explore how the NHS can make the best use of its money;
• look at how spend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services.
• consider how nationally we use these resources to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce inequality, improve health and support the NHS.
The team offers high profile, fast-paced projects. This requires adaptability, rigor and innovation and provides exciting development opportunities for those developing their careers in the NHS, health or the public sector.
The main duties of the job are:
• Expertise in financial reporting together with high level of expertise in technical finance systems such as VBA in Excel / Oracle Business Intelligence, leading on elements of the A2R design and outputs of ISFE2.
• Lead responsibility for managing interface between ICB collection/reporting templates and the Integrated Single Financial Environment (ISFE) ledger.
• Overall responsibility for advanced Visual Basic for Applications and related code sign-off to comply with functional standards and support high quality financial reporting.
• Oversight of strategic direction of using business intelligence/visualisation tools (Power BI, Excel) and related coding languages eg. VBA, DAX, M Query, SQL.
• Expert awareness of financial reporting and how technology can support achievement of financial reporting objectives.
