Job description

Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, Business School, Department of Management – Degree Apprenticeships The University of Exeter Business School has developed a suite of Degree Apprenticeship programmes designed in collaboration with employers to meet all aspects of the apprenticeship standards. UEBS aims to fulfil employer expectations and includes employer involvement right from the start of the degree. Our design is premised on the assumption that the most authentic and powerful pedagogy is one that focuses on the identification, analysis and resolution of immediate problems in the apprentices’ world, therefore these programme link learning directly to the working manager. We believe that this philosophy directly fits with the requirements laid down by apprenticeship standards, serving both apprentice and employer. The role We are seeking to appoint a new Senior Lecturer to join our Degree Apprenticeship team to design and develop the Level 6 Accounting Finance Manager and Level 7 Accounting Professional apprenticeship programmes The post will include the design, development and delivery of teaching and learning material suitable for use in our accounting apprenticeship programmes. This will include delivery across a range of modules or within this subject area. These programmes are delivered through blended learning, a mixture of online, on-campus and employer premises masterclasses with a significant element of workplace learning and assessment. About you For a Senior Lecturer post you will: Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD in Accounting and/or finance, or equivalent, of the core knowledge relating to accounting in order to teach and support learning on accounting modules within Degree Apprenticeships. Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline as might be expected of a very experienced HE educator. Contribute to the design, development and delivery a range of modules or programmes at various levels; applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques; identifying sources of funding and securing funds for own scholarly activities and providing academic leadership to those working within programme areas. Be expected to work towards Principle Fellow of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this. Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role by clicking on the attachment. What we can offer you: Freedom (and the support) to pursue your intellectual interests and to work creatively across disciplines; Support teams that understand the University wide teaching goals and partner with our academics accordingly; An Innovation, Impact and Business directorate that works closely with our academics providing specialist support for external engagement and development; Our Exeter Academic initiative supports high performing academics to achieve their potential and develop their career; A multitude of staff benefits including sector leading benefits around maternity, adoption and shared parental leave (up to 26 weeks full pay), Paternity leave (up to 6 weeks full pay), and a Fertility Treatment Policy; For further information please contact Rachael Johnstone, Associate Dean for Taught Students (DAs) and Director of the Centre for Degree Partnerships, email R.M.Johnstone@exeter.ac.uk.
