Job description

Description

No day will be the same - here are some of the highlights

We are open to applicants on a part-time or full-time basis who meet the skills outlined.
We are looking for a commercially minded lawyer to join as Senior Legal Counsel to directly support the Legal Affairs Director, Legal Counsel and Legal and Contracts Specialist to provide a broad range of day-to-day legal support across Good Energy.
This role is not just about providing accurate, relevant and timely legal advice. One of the most enjoyable challenges of the role is to apply a commercial mindset; managing and balancing legal risk against commercial considerations to deliver what the business needs. This requires an appreciation of the commercial context and objectives of the business. It is not essential to have prior experience in the energy sector, but we need someone with the enthusiasm and passion to move beyond black letter law and get under the skin of the business.
Emotional intelligence, self-awareness and an ability to adapt your approach and communication style are important for this role as you will form close working relationships with individuals of all levels of seniority in the business.
Working as part of a small team, in an agile and dynamic way, the role will see a broad range of legal work types – commercial contracting, SaaS/PaaS agreements, brand and intellectual property, corporate transactions and, occasionally, disputes. We don’t expect you to have a deep understanding of all these areas, but an enthusiasm for new challenges, willingness to learn new areas and a pragmatic approach to problem solving are important.

We are open to applicants on a part-time or full-time basis who meet the skills outlined.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing commercially considered legal support and advice including a wide range of corporate, commercial and regulatory matters
  • Ensuring that legal risks are identified and escalated as appropriate
  • Managing and mitigating legal risks by flexibly implementing our contract approval process
  • Working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across Good Energy to identify and deliver pragmatic solutions within agreed timelines
  • Assist in designing, implementing and securing adherence to competence and training procedures across the business.
