Job description

We have an exciting new opportunity available in our Private Rented Property Licensing Team.

As the Senior Licensing Delivery Officer, you will work within the Environmental Health service, part of the Council's Community Safety & Environmental Health Division.

We are looking for a motivated individual who can apply their knowledge and skills to help support improvements in the Private Rented Sector through delivery of our licensing schemes.

You and the team will be a first point of contact for receipt of private rented property licensing application enquiries and provide accurate technical advice on the processes and legal requirements relating to such licences.

You will assist the Licensing Delivery Team Leader and the Private Rented Property Licensing Team Manager to further develop processes to ensure an easy-to-use online application experience for landlords and managing agents, and a streamlined workflow process for our Licensing Delivery Officers.

Professional development is central to the dynamics of this new team and training will be provided on background of relevant legislation and the needs and challenges in the private rented sector.

As of the 1st January 2024 we will be extending our licensing scheme to help raise standards in the private housing sector. As part of the Our Greenwich plan we want to ensure that our private sector landlords provide well-managed, decent and a safe standard of private rented accommodation. You will join a team whose mission is very much about ensuring that people in Greenwich have access to safe and secure housing that meets their needs, whilst striving to be the 'best or better' in the services we deliver each and every day.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience of working with private sector housing, and similar regulatory compliance-based processes.

The successful candidate will be eligible to take part in the Council's flexible working arrangements, and hybrid working with 2 office-based days (minimum) to help you achieve a good work/life balance.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Barry Ewing;    Barry.Ewing@royalgreenwich.gov.uk      0208 921 2113
