We have an exciting opportunity for someone with strong learning support skills to join our dedicated team of teachers and LSAs in supporting the learning and development of children in our large Church of England junior school.
We would like to recruit a new Senior LSA to join our successful junior school team as a permanent member of staff. At our school, an LSA supports English and maths learning in each class every day and we have one Senior LSA in each year group to lead this team. Senior LSAs are class based in the morning and generally provide intervention support through one-to-one or small group teaching across the year group in the afternoons. However, they also play an important role in providing short-term cover for classes within their year team under the direction of the teacher. Senior LSA intervention programmes are usually learning based, but at our school we place a high priority on promoting wellbeing, for children and staff, and so our Senior LSA role also includes pastoral support.
All of our LSAs establish strong working relationships with the teachers and children in classes they support to effectively enable every child to be successful. For our Senior LSAs, that relationship is broadened to include supporting children across the year group and supporting the teaching team in their planning and preparation. New members of our team will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme and regular professional development opportunities.
The Senior LSA role is a very rewarding one and involves working at Hampshire’s LSA 3, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, level which is reflected in the ‘D’ pay scale. Our vacancy is within our team of four Senior LSAs who each work 30 hours per week. The hours of work for this permanent Senior LSA post will be: 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:30pm daily during term time, plus attendance at weekly after school Year Team meetings and some preparation during the summer holidays, by arrangement, to create a 40 week contract.

In April 2022 we secured a very positive outcome from our short Ofsted inspection, not least the judgement that our Christian Values of TLC ‘help to make the school a very special place.’ This echoed the outcome of our church school inspection in November 2019 that our Christian vision ‘successfully drives the school’s development and has an exceptional impact on the lives of pupils and adults.’

Applicants must have:
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience of working in a school or supporting children’s learning and development
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or qualified by experience
- English and maths to GCSE level
- Effective IT skills that can support learning
Salary will be based on experience and will start within the D grade FTE salary range of £25,628 to £28,326. This equates to an actual salary of £18,229 to £20,148 (£13.28 to £14.68 per hour). We are keen to recruit a new Senior LSA to start as soon as possible due to the retirement of the current postholder.
