About our World Energy Congress:
For 100 years, the Council’s World Energy Congress has convened the cooperative power of the world energy community to turn inspiration into action. This prestigious and influential global event, hosted at the highest political level, welcomes leaders from all corners of the world as they come together to enable solutions and deliver impact in an era of energy for people and planet.
Taking place every two years in rotating locations around the world, the Congress convenes a dynamic community of over 5,000 delegates and 18,000 total attendees. Drawing on the Council’s rich history as the impartial and pragmatic voice of the global energy agenda, it creates the space for collaborative and constructive leadership action that involves the whole energy ecosystem and unites countries, businesses and communities of all shapes and sizes.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Manager, Event Marketing and Communications to join our dynamic team, reporting into the Director, Communications and Engagement and closely aligned with our Global Agenda team who manage the delivery of events. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to thrive in a fast-paced, cross cultural and international environment. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the marketing strategy for the World Energy Council's flagship event, the World Energy Congress, as well as other key events organized by the Council.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Marketing Strategy and Delivery:
Develop and execute comprehensive Event Marketing strategies and tactical plans for the World Energy Congress and other Council events, aligning with organizational goals and objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of marketing efforts with event logistics, content development, and participant engagement. Create a website strategy that attracts and converts visitors; analyse progress and adapt content accordingly. Ensure show websites are fully up to date with latest information in accordance to campaign cycle. Ensure all social media channels are maintained in according with business guidelines, frequently populated and monitored to attract, engage and convert followers. Effectively manage suppliers and partners with clear, documented service level agreements to ensure deliverables are of the highest standard.
Brand Promotion:
Enhance the visibility and reputation of the World Energy Council and the Council’s events by creating and implementing brand promotion initiatives across various channels. Write sharp, creative, and persuasive copy for a wide range of media and other audiences, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation in all Event Marketing materials and Communications.
Audience Engagement:
Identify and target diverse audience segments for each event, tailoring marketing campaigns to engage and attract key stakeholders, industry professionals, government representatives, and other relevant participants. Develop personas, value propositions and messaging for each key stakeholder profile. Connect with core customer profiles and collect feedback to ensure the event is meeting their expectations and that you’re aware of industry changes and nuances. Leverage digital marketing, social media, and other channels to maximize audience reach and participation.
Partnerships and Sponsorships:
Collaborate with the sponsorship team and the Director of Sales to develop and implement strategies for attracting sponsors, exhibitors, delegates and partners to Council events. Maximize the visibility and value proposition for sponsors through targeted marketing initiatives.
Content Marketing:
Create and distribute compelling content related to Council events, ensuring that it resonates with the target audience and contributes to thought leadership within the energy sector. Coordinate the design and production of all marketing collateral e.g. sales brochures, post show reports, print ads, web banners, emails templates etc., in a format that engages and drives conversions Monitor and explore new marketing channels, tactics and methodologies to enhance marketing performance
Data Build, Analytics and Reporting:
Create a well thought through data build and verification strategy aligned with the event goals and KPIs Utilize data analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of web, email and social marketing campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to stakeholders. Continuously optimize strategies based on performance metrics and feedback.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage Event Marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness in achieving marketing objectives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience overseeing Event Marketing function, with a focus on large-scale international conferences and exhibitions.
- Strong understanding of the energy sector, sustainability, and global geopolitical dynamics.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing cross-functional teams.
- Skilled in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and data analytics.
- Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in other languages a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural environment.
