Job Title: Senior Manager Financial Planning & Analysis

Salary: £80,100 + dependent upon experience

Location : Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

The Division:

Our Energy & Transportation (E&T) segment has a broad portfolio of products and services - which include engines, generator sets, industrial gas turbines and locomotives, along with other related equipment depending on the industry and application. We deliver these products and services to Cat machine, oil & gas, power generation, transportation and industrial customers. E&T is also developing the advanced power sources of the future and is working on many solutions to help our customers lower their carbon footprint. Additionally, our Remanufacturing Division is another key component to the E&T portfolio, which provides great economical and sustainability benefits to customers. 

Job Summary:

This position is the Senior Finance Manager for the engines Sales & Marketing (SMSP) group within Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD).  The position works across highly diverse and global teams to provide strategic counsel and deliver analysis and insights, partnering with the business to drive profitable growth across Caterpillar’s Industrial engines. The position is the primary business partner and trusted adviser for IPSD’s Regionals Sales Directors, Advanced Power Director, Marketing Director, and Services & Customer Support Director.  The role reports directly to the Senior Finance Director with responsibility for supporting the SMSP organization.   

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the IPSD Sales & Operations planning process, collaborating closely across the sales teams and product groups

  • Lead the IPSD orders management team, managing order intake, pipeline health, order backlog, and process improvement

  • Own and lead the annual IPSD long term sales forecasting process

  • Collaborate with the SMSP strategy team to define available market opportunity, market attractiveness, and Operating Profit After Capital Charge (OPACC) pools and use to establish long range plans

  • Partner with Industrial Sales Directors and their teams evaluate monthly sales performance, business health of 3rd party Industrial sales, and prioritize resources towards driving sales growth in proper areas to maximize returns

  • Support the creation and growth of the Industrial Advanced Power Customer Solutions team, driving penetration into emerging power technologies, such as batteries and hybrid

  • Coordinate budget management across the entirety of the SMSP team

  • Provide financial leadership and support investment analysis activities, capital spend requests, and project prioritization

  • Champion the finance transformation and continuous process improvement

  • Effectively lead a diverse team, focused on proper talent development, succession planning, performance management and target setting

Skills Required:

  • Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.

  • Financial Forecasting and Modeling : Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results.

  • Stakeholder Management: Expert level ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and engaging with them to achieve objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
