Role: Senior Market Analyst – Power Sector & Electricity Markets

Location: Greece, Hungary, Romania (flexible / hybrid working)

E3M, part of Ricardo plc develops and maintains large-scale models across the energy, environment and transport sectors. Its expertise focuses on the design and impact analysis of the transition of all possible types of power generation technologies, several types of alternative green fuels, energy demand efficiency and mobility restructuring. Its integrated modelling tools provide informed, transparent and robust analysis as well as recommendations for its high-profile clients which include the European Commission, national governments, energy regulators and a number of private companies in the energy and transport sectors, financial institutions and strategic consultancies.

Over the past 30 years, E3-Modelling has carried out consultancy on all major European energy and climate policy initiatives, and its large-scale energy, economy and transport models have been applied at the very heart of European Commission policymaking.

About the role:

Play an active role in all aspects of product development and client engagement: help identify issues, form hypotheses, conduct analysis, synthesis conclusions into widely used reports, and present to senior stakeholders.

This position suits an experienced analyst or consultant from a strategy or economic consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or knowledge-driven firm or institution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end research reports, from conception to client presentation, under senior leadership guidance.

Stay updated on policy, market, and technological advancements, leveraging this knowledge to offer data-driven insights on the evolution of southeast Europe power markets to clients.
*

Represent Ricardo as a market expert in external events, contributing to thought leadership, analysis, and research advancement.
*

Play a pivotal role in product delivery, engaging clients to identify needs and continuously improve our services.
*

Develop comprehensive energy transition analyses for both public and private sector clients, presenting insights in client meetings and presentations.
*

Contribute to the development of consistent forecasts company-wide.
*

This managerial role involves overseeing a team of early-career analysts as the Senior Research Associate.

Key Competencies and Experience

* Solid understanding of European electricity market operations and regulations.
* Proven experience in consultancy, energy, finance, or knowledge-driven sectors.
* Demonstrated success in taking responsibility for project and process management in team-oriented environments.
* Proven ability to extract insights from complex quantitative data.
* Effective communication with both technical and non-technical individuals.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive for business growth.
* Capability to mentor junior colleagues for their professional development.
* Successful track record in client-facing roles.
* Knowledge of key financial metrics (NPV, IRR, DCF) and economic principles.
* Competence in advanced data analytics tools (Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel).
* Previous involvement in energy projects, especially in the South East Europe context.
* Relevant Master’s degree or PhD.
* Proficiency in languages beyond English.
