Job description

Are you a creative marketer with experience of creating campaigns for commercial theatre? Do you want to work on high-profile, large-scale projects in London's West End and on Tours? Do you have experience of marketing in an agency and/or in-house environment? Can you work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, exciting organisation?

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Officer to take a senior role in supporting all aspects of marketing for Matilda The Musical in London and COMMERCIAL TOURs.

Reporting to and working closely with the Head of Marketing for Matilda The Musical Worldwide, you will help to develop and implement marketing strategies to increase and diversify audiences and wraparound offers. Key responsibilities will include (please see the job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Supporting the delivery of marketing campaigns for Matilda The Musical in Londonworking with PR and marketing and advertising agencies.
  • Working closely with external associates, Marketing and PR agencies and venue teams to support pre-opening and day-to-day running of Commercial Touring campaigns.
  • Supporting with production photocalls and cast changes.
  • Developing content and monitoring social media and digital campaign plans.
  • Ensuring all marketing materials and media are bought competitively and within budget.
  • Content managing Matilda The Musical pages on RSC website and venue sites.
  • Monitoring sales targets and implementing strategies and plans as required.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Significant marketing experience in commercial theatre either in an in-house or agency environment.
  • Experience of working with marketing, advertising and PR agencies and venue teams.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • An eye for detail.
  • The ability to work under your own initiative and organise your work.
  • Experience of using and creating digital content and web content management systems.

This role requires someone that is comfortable working in a small, fast paced department, so, you must be a self-starter, able to use your initiative to get tasks completed in good time and to a high standard. The Audiences and Marketing department is a busy department; the postholder will need to respond quickly, work proactively, make confident decisions, and take action independently. You will have strong ties with multiple departments within the company and externally with partner organisations. Flexibility and adaptability are strong qualities for this role as activities and priorities may change at short notice, and the ability to manage priorities is key.

This is a permanent position, based in London (New Oxford Street), with regular travel away from base. You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although some degree of flexibility will be required according to workload. The post offers hybrid and flexible working, you can be in the office 2-3 days a week and work remotely the rest of the time, although there will be times when you will be needed on location. Flexibility is important and we try and design working patterns which best suit both your own circumstances and our business needs.
