Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

They're expanding their team to fuel growth in areas across the board and are building their team of experienced, passionate, and motivated Mechanical Design Engineers.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead the Mechanical Design and development of cutting-edge products, including cordless devices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into robust and manufacturable designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, analyse engineering data, and provide recommendations for enhancing product performance and reliability.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for components and assemblies, ensuring adherence to industry standards and design principles.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities to ensure design integrity and functionality.
- Work closely with suppliers to specify materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality in the production of certain products.
- Provide technical support to other engineering teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to bring innovation to the team.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in Mechanical Design and development, preferably in the consumer electronics or household appliances industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or equivalent) for 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
- Previous involvement in the development of cordless Power Tools or battery-powered devices.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product lifecycle management.
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data, perform tolerance analysis, and make data-driven design decisions.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes related to household appliances.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable:
- Experience with design for injection molding and familiarity with plastic part design.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal analysis.
