Job Title:Senior Mechanical Engineer

Duration: Permanent
Salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a permanent position working for a large manufacturing company based in Bath.
Working collaboratively as part of a high performing team, you will deliver effective and fit for purpose solutions to our customers globally. Using your experience, you will guide the team in the use of formal design principles whilst ensuring the adherence to or establishment of best practice to:
* Modify current products to fulfil approved non-standard product requests (NSPR's).
* Develop and improve the core products within area of responsibility as a design authority.
* Implement new feature requests and product enhancements.
* Solve problems using continuous improvement tools and techniques.
* Deliver high quality solutions in a timely manner to both internal and external customers.
* Identify opportunities to continuously improve our products and processes.
* You will need to be proactive, hands-on and driven to ensure the delivery of all activities in line with key metrics.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provide guidance to the team on technical matters and ensure adherence to or establishment of best practice processes.
* Co-ordinate a workstream by being the point of contact and driving the delivery of work in line with team and business objectives.
* Preparation and checking of technical documents and reports.
* Design to meet internationally recognised standards.
* Provision of technical support to key internal and external stakeholders as required e.g. Sales, Service, Production, Purchasing and Quality Departments.
* Develop and prepare project plans to influence project timescales.
* Develop solutions and provide cost estimates in collaboration with all business disciplines to validate project business cases.
* Present analysis results and project solutions to key stakeholders such as technical leads, senior leaders and customers as necessary.
* Develop and execute functional and non-functional test specifications to ensure compliance to requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Product design or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of 4 years industrial design experience.
* Proven experience of analysing, designing, testing, debugging, and enhancing existing/new products used in an industrial environment.
* Design and development using structured design techniques.
* Proficient in the use of CAD software. Experience of Solid Edge preferred.
* Use of the Microsoft toolset - for technical documentation.
* Experience of task management, defect management, requirements capture, verification and validation tools.
Required Skills:
* Clear and effective communication skills are essential, able to build relationships at all levels of the organisation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven experience of co-ordinating projects and teams preferred.
* A team player that shares knowledge and insights, but also able to demonstrate a strong level of initiative.
* Can effectively communicate technical information with a non-technical audience when required.
* Adapts style to contribute and enhance overall team performance.
* Works effectively with people across a wide range of disciplines and levels (both internal and external resources).
* Supports and encourages positive working behaviours in others during task fulfilment.
Working Hours:
* Flexible
* 8am to 4pm, 8:30am to 4:30pm or 9am to 5pm
* Finish 30 mins early on Fridays
* 37 hours per week
