We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / Principal Engineer to join a well-established engineering R&D company based in Bedfordshire. The company is focusing on developing brand new disruptive technology which are helping to revolutionise high precision engineering companies in industries such as Aerospace, Space, Defence, Automotive, etc. They are now looking for an outstanding Senior Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and excellent attention to detail to be involved in working on a range of special purpose machinery as well as repair, refurbishment, and process improvement.
The successful candidate will be dealing with various rotating machines, hydraulic / pneumatic /cooling systems, air drying and lubrication systems, low and high voltage systems, control panel, safety circuits, data acquisition, signal conditioning etc.
Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate will need to satisfy security clearance requirements - including the last 5 years continual UK residency.
Senior Mechanical Engineer`s requirements:
* Degree or equivalent practical experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* At least 5 years of recent and relevant experience
* Good knowledge of electrical and Mechanical Engineering procedures, including application of change management and approval, version control, and testing processes
* Knowledge of subcontract management including requirements specification, technical monitoring, acceptance testing and commissioning.
* Demonstrable experience of complying with relevant legislation and standards
* Demonstrable leadership experience of technical projects
* Good understanding of 6 Sigma, 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques
* Experience in line management and ability to support more junior engineers and technical staff.
* Strong problem solving and excellent time management skills, excellent communication skills.
