We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established R&D company based in Bedfordshire. The company is focusing on developing brand new disruptive technology which are helping to revolutionise high precision engineering companies in industries such as Aerospace, Space, Defence, Automotive, etc. They are now looking for a proactive Senior Mechanical / Aerospace Engineer with excellent working knowledge of the mechanics or aerodynamics, exceptional attention to detail and leadership experience to be involved in development of a range of high precision projects.
Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate will need to satisfy security clearance requirements - including the last 5 years continual UK residency.
Senior Mechanical Engineer`s responsibilities:
* Working on delivering projects according to client requests, preparation of technical documentation focusing on aerodynamic, mechanical and programme requirements.
* Lead experimental tests, conduct analysis and interpretation of aerodynamic data taking responsibility for data quality and reports to clients.
* Provide expertise, support and guidance to junior engineering staff.
* Produce written technical reports, supporting experimental and numerical tasks relevant to the projects.
* Represent company`s interests at the client meetings and conferences in the UK and overseas and proactively working on development of innovative processes at the company.
* Working in close contact with clients and technical consultants to see projects through to completion.
Senior Mechanical Engineer`s requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
* At least 5 years of recent and relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering within a R&D environment or academia.
* Extensive knowledge of aerodynamics from a relevant field. Knowledge of transonic aerodynamics would be an advantage.
* Experience of wind tunnel testing and knowledge of advanced testing techniques.
* Strong problem solving and excellent time management skills, excellent communication skills as well as broad understanding within engineering discipline and a leadership experience.
* Knowledge of tools such as Simulink, Matlab, Dymola, Numpy, Scipy, Ansys Fluent will be an advantage.
Location: Bedfordshire (commutable from Bedford, St. Neots, Luton, Royston, Milton Keynes, Cambridge etc.)
