Atkinson Moss: Technical have been engaged to assist our industry leading client with the appointment of Senior Mechanical Technician to join their growing Engineering team.
Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will bring your experience and expertise to join a 'growth' business, that has sound investement not only in its business but within its team of employee's.

Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing manufacturing and production solutions based on engineering requirements.
- Ensuring manufacturing processes comply with relevant policies and procedures.
- Follows design for assembly and for manufacturing approach.
- Carries out FMEA for manufacturing and production processes.
- Responsible for developing standard operating procedures and procurement specifications.
- Responsible for analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management.
- Responsible for analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency.
- Identifies and captures risks and issues.
- Responsible for prototyping and validating all tooling and equipment.
- Ensures concessions, NCRs, RCAs are completed on time.
- Responsible for preparing and delivering knowledge transfer packs and implementing in production and post production at customer sites.
- Ensuring equipment is maintained by completing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintains quality production and quality logs.
- Review and technically advise engineers on design feasibility for in house machining and provide proposals for design changes where required.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate levels of stock are in situ and placing orders with suppliers as and when required.
- Troubleshoot involving other teams members as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
- HNC/HND (or comparable qualification) in a relevant mechanical or manufacturing engineering discipline (preferred)
- Proven track record of working in a highly automated production based environment, running and monitoring the output of machine tools.
- Experience of installing, trouble-shooting and repairing equipment
- Experience in planning and organising maintenance
- Prior experience of liaising with suppliers, customers and research and development staff.
- Effective understanding of mechanical drawings and drawing standards
- Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI), product lifecycle, Joint Production Development (JPD), Primary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Experience of monitoring and checking product quality.
- Responsibility for identifying process deviation and taking corrective action
- Excellent understanding of tooling and material properties within machining and assembly applications.
- Previous experience using CAD/CAM is desirable
- Full driving licence and own vehicle insured for business use
