This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced media professional to join our award-winning and ambitious national media team, to build on our success so far in making dementia the issue of our time.
One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime and it’s the UK’s biggest killer. The Media Team is instrumental in communicating the impact and scale of dementia and raising the profile of Alzheimer’s Society’s crucial work to provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.
The successful candidate will help deliver some of the biggest moments in Alzheimer’s Society’s calendar, working closely with large parts of the organisation, including our regional, celebrity and social media colleagues, to inform, inspire and engage our audiences.
Through this role, you will help to:

  • increase awareness and understanding of dementia
  • raise the profile of Alzheimer's Society, our key messages and campaigns
  • publicise our research, influencing, brand and fundraising work
  • protect and enhance our reputation, including supporting senior spokespeople to deliver media interviews

About you
We are looking for a dynamic and creative senior PR/comms professional to help us get our voice heard in the media and create and deliver high-impact media campaigns.
An expert in media relations, you will play a key role in driving forward creative and impact-led ideas, finding new and interesting ways to tell our story to different audiences.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a high-profile, busy media office, with proven ability to proactively capitalise on media opportunities, and develop and deliver campaigns that engage audiences and shape the public agenda.
You will have excellent consumer, broadcast and health media contacts, the ability to brief senior spokespeople and be an inspiring member of the team, leading by example.
You will be results-driven and tenacious when it comes to securing meaningful coverage that will help us improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

Everything we do is shaped by people affected by dementia. Their knowledge and experience are critical to bringing about real-world solutions. From choosing the most promising research through to telling their stories to raise awareness; they are the heart of this organisation.
