We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.
We are looking for a Senior Officer to join our Global Government Relations team to help advocate for our mission to improve health and save lives.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will be working as part of Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships (GRSP), reporting to the Head of Global Government Relations.

You will build relationships, particularly in the UK, so we can achieve policy change. You may also support work on multilateral efforts and Wellcome’s presence in the international arena. Develop and maintain relationships with parliamentarians and other external stakeholders to build Wellcome’s political influence
Work with external stakeholders to identify areas of shared interest, and to understand areas of possible friction
Work in matrix manner with Wellcome’s Policy and Corporate Affairs teams to formulate and deliver advocacy strategies in support of project objectives.
Analysis covering specific issues within projects, for example analysis of government feedback or consequences arising from specific political decisions.
Provide logistical support (e.g. arranging and minuting meetings and conferences, tracking follow-up activity) to high-priority stakeholder engagement activities
Prepare briefing for senior management in Wellcome on project interests and developments in relevant political arenas.
Build and maintain links with other teams in Wellcome to understand relevant developments which may have implications for the work of the GRSP team.
Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
