About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 dependent upon experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available
As a Senior Technology Engineer, you'll have the exciting opportunity to join a growing team and play a critical role in driving the delivery of new innovations and technologies across the offshore renewables business portfolio.
This role will provide a wide exposure across SSER from optimisation and value engineering across the design and delivery of fixed bottom offshore wind projects, to technology development and road mapping activities in Floating Offshore Wind, and engagement with new-to-market technology developers to lead our business in adoption of game changing technologies. As a team we operate flexibly and strive to support our business by ensuring it is equipped with the technical leadership and advice required to pick the best available solutions on the market and integrate these effectively.
Key responsibilities for this role:
- Technology Identification: Building relationships to maintain knowledge of our key technical challenges within the business. Maintaining awareness of developments in industry and latest knowledge of technical innovations, technologies being developed, and identifying opportunities for SSER projects.
- Technology De-Risking: Lead screening activities to support projects in identifying and optioneering of new technology solutions. Lead multi-discipline technology assessments and qualification activities to ensure technical risks are understood, mitigated and at acceptable levels for project adoption.
- Early-stage concept development: Lead early-stage engineering concept development in projects for the implementation of new technologies where there is limited existing internal experience.
- Collaboration Management: Represent SSER in collaborative industry and academic programmes, maximising the value for the business by steering and influencing where appropriate.
What do I need?
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, who can visualise and clearly articulate proposed solutions, has an approachable manner and can adapt to changing situations.
Having a background in Renewables isn't necessary, as we welcome applications from those with transferable experience. It's more important to us that you share our values, bring unique experience and are eager to learn.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Demonstrable experience operating within a commercial Engineering environment delivering new-to-business technology, processes or tools, or relevant transferable experience in activities such as: Project Scoping, Innovation Management, Concept Design, Optioneering Studies, Technology Assessment, Product Qualification, Risk Management, Verification & Validation, Cost Benefit Analysis.
- Broad technical knowledge of offshore wind, or relevant renewables industry, with expertise in one or more Engineering discipline such as: Structures, Mechanical, Electrical and Cable, Civil, Transport and Installation, Operations and Maintenance, Geoscience, Grid.
- Experienced at managing ambiguity and uncertainty inherent in early-stage concepts whilst securing commercial value propositions and managing technical risks from engineering activities and decisions.
- Exceptional organisational skills, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to handle and deliver on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build, maintain and influence effective relationships freely and collaboratively, both internally and externally.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards and nearing application for chartership status.
