Our Tech Team at Santander UK is growing, and we have a truly exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to help us continue leading the way in innovative banking.

The difference you’ll make:
- Overseeing the product lifecycle and manage upgrades, patching and vulnerability management
- Implementing robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and bolstering trust among clients and stakeholders
- Developing and implementing plans to enhance system performance, enabling faster transaction processing and smoother operations
- Automating deployment processes, configuration management, patching, hardening and monitoring
- Operating as a key escalation point for complex or niche issues based on expert technical knowledge
- Installing, configure, and upgrade database software on various platforms
What you’ll bring:
- Expertise on Oracle (11g, 12c and 19c) on Red Hat environments, valuable experience on financial services
- Extensive skills on on RAC and DataGuard, installation, configuration and performance.
- SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019
- Strong experience on DB migrations and disaster recovery
- Database tuning and optimization skills
- Good process documentation skills
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Oracle Golden Gate
- Exadata Cloud@Customer
- Experience in other DB technologies (UDB, Postgres, Redis, Mongo, Mysql, Informix)
- Automation skills, shell script, Rundeck and Ansible

This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week.

If both sides agree we will send your CV to the hiring manager to review. For this position, the interview process will be : –
1st Stage – Technical Interview – this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team
2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.

- Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus
