Job description

Senior Palliative Care NurseAdult Inpatient Unit
Full-Time – 37.50 hours per week
If you are looking for a new challenge in a supportive environment,
then this is the role for you…
Contrary to the belief that Hospices are sad, depressing, and upsetting places to work, this is certainly not the case here at St Andrew’s Hospice. We offer a warm, friendly, and nurturing environment where our patients, families and staff are at the heart of everything we do, in striving to make each day enjoyable for everyone.
The demand for the outstanding care St Andrews Hospice provides is increasing and we need your help to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients, their families and significant others working alongside members of the inter-disciplinary team.
We now have an exciting opportunity to appoint an experienced and committed Senior Palliative Care Nurse to work on our Adult Inpatient Unit.
As a senior member of the clinical team, working alongside the Lead Nurse and Head of Adult Palliative and End of Life Care Services, you will provide clinical leadership during your shift, co-ordinating staff and resources whilst providing expert skilled assistance, reflecting the aims and philosophy of Hospice care.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a qualified Registered Nurse with exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and extensive post registration experience who is able to display a high level of clinical and technical Palliative Care experience and act as an influential member of the clinical inter-disciplinary team whilst contributing to the development of patient services within the Hospice, where everything you do makes a difference. If you want to make this difference, then this is the role for you.
We want people to know that the Hospice is not a sad place, and our Hospice does not necessarily mean the end, it can mean healing and support and it can mean laughter, joy, making the most out of the time people have left. Having a role whereby you play a key part in providing and supporting our staff to do this, so you and the team can give the best possible care to our patients and their families.
“As the Line Manager for this role, providing outstanding care is a passion of mine, I get to make a real difference, alongside supporting and developing a team who work incredibly hard and who are superheroes every day. I’m proud to be part of a dedicated team of colleagues, who want to make a real difference in maintaining an environment so we can provide the highest quality services to our workforce, patients, and their families. If you want to be part of this, then I would love to hear from you”.
In return we offer you:

Lease Car Scheme (NHS Fleet)
* Generous annual leave
