The Senior Payroll Assistant will provide essential support to the Accounting & Finance department in an industrial / manufacturing company located in Rochester. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and an ability to handle confidential information.

Description
- Managing the full cycle of payroll processing for 400 staff
- Ensuring payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll queries.
- Preparing payroll reports for management.
- Assisting with financial audits related to payroll.
- Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
Managing the calculation of overtime and time-sheet reconciliation
- Ensuring the end to end processing of selected weekly and monthly payrolls is completed
- On-going maintenance of payroll system and leave planning system
- Updating and maintaining payroll records
- Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
- Maintaining leave, sickness and overtime reports
- Interpreting awards/agreements and contracts in relation to overtime, shift allowances etc.
- Undertaking required reporting, both internal and statutory reporting
- Calculation and payment of termination payments
- Updating Payroll System with New Starters, and Leavers
- Ensuring statutory payments are processed
- Processing increases and calculation of back pays
- P11D processing annually
- Ensuring employees are paid on time and accurately each month
- Process auto enrolment pension
- Calculate and process the average holiday pay
Profile
- Previous office experience is essential and previous experience of working within a Payroll department would be an advantage
- Knowledge of employment law and current legislation
- Confident user of Microsoft Office
- Ability to Deal with employees and external clients professionally
- Knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided
