Job description

Due to further growth and development of OCU Group, we now have a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Clerk to support our existing Payroll team. Based out of our Stockport Head office our operations span the entire UK, where our teams service the largest utility providers in the market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring data is captured accurately, efficiently, and robustly, minimizing use of excel and implementing process and system improvements.
  • Assisting in operating the payroll of 8 entities across the group, plus future acquisitions, using Payrite Payroll.
  • Processing starter & leavers, ensure all statutory deductions and third-party payments are made.
  • Collation of timesheets and overtime payments.
  • Communicating any payroll changes to the business.
  • Distribution of correspondence to employees related to role (Pay slips, P11d’s, P60’s).
  • Ensuring accuracy of information for HMRC.
  • Submission of monthly Pension to the Pension Providers.
  • Preparation of cost journals for PAYE Payroll.
  • Compilation monthly and yearly reports.
  • Preparing PAYE reports for audit & legislative requirements & costing analysis.
  • Ensuring compliance in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Resolving employees queries regarding payroll.
  • Supporting the annual external audit process.

Skills and Experience:

  • Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative; enthusiastic with 'can do’ attitude.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of payroll processes with high attention to detail.
  • Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems (Word / Excel / Outlook).
  • Payroll / software experience (Payrite / Mitrefinch time and attendance / Sage / Xero).
