We are a subsidiary of Henry Boot PLC and promote land through the planning system for predominantly residential and commercial schemes. Due to continued business growth and success, we are expanding our team and have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Planner at our Bristol office.

Your Role

This role is responsible for supporting the regional team with the appraising and promoting of land in order to deliver the strategic objectives of the region.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote and manage projects on their course to Planning Permission. This will involve longer-term strategic promotion, and management of current and emerging planning applications;
  • Demonstrate a degree of personal ownership for specific sites / actions as agreed with the Senior Regional Team and / or more senior team members;
  • Support the team in researching and appraising specific site searching opportunities;
  • Appraise sites and make recommendations to the Senior Regional Team;
  • Prepare Planning submissions for agents and landowners by seeking input from the Senior Regional Team
  • Prepare reports for consideration by the Senior Regional Team;
  • Work with external teams to compile the necessary Marketing and Sale material to allow opportunities to be sold once the optimum planning position has been achieved;
  • Assist as appropriate and required with the disposal of land;
  • Support the Executive Director in preparing for Director and Board meetings and prepare for, attend and provide support at planning, committee and public consultation meetings;
  • Identify any risks and flag in a timely manner to the appropriate person;
  • Foster and grow close working relationships with consultants, external specialists, local authorities, agents and land owners;
  • Manage site budgets in line with expectations and authority levels;
  • Adhere to internal policies, procedures and processes and actively seek to make recommendations for improvement.

About You

The successful candidate will work within an environment of high motivation and productivity, maintaining effective working relationships and actively seeking recommendations for improvement. Ideally, you will have demonstrable experience in guiding, managing and/or deciding planning applications, and have experience of the Local Plan process, through promotion or contributions to drafting Local Plans. This is an exciting and varied opportunity and so you will need to be organised, flexible and respond well to new and changing situations. You will hold a relevant degree and ideally have over 5 years experience in Planning and/or Development. The role requires travel throughout the southwest region. Being an RTPI member would be advantageous.
