The role

Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, Development Management.

Southwark is a vibrant diverse borough, with many contrasts. Enforcing planning control will present you with a varied caseload of contrasting development potentially on very big construction projects to householder development.

Southwark Council is an ambitious central London authority, which is home to some of the largest and most exciting developments in the country. The Planning and Growth Division recruiting an experienced officer to deal with major planning applications in the busy Development Management Unit. There is the prospect of challenging but highly rewarding work for the successful candidate.

You will work with colleagues across the Council to provide a joined-up system of planning control.

You will demonstrate the skills necessary to address the challenges such a caseload presents, as well as demonstrating that you can progress that caseload in good time so as to deliver good customer service and improve the environment of the Borough. You will advise elected members and senior officers and use your sound judgement to make reasoned and considered recommendations on complex matters, and to present cases before Planning Inspectors and the Courts.

We are looking for an experienced enforcement planner to join busy a Development Management team, taking a leading role in managing a varied caseload and developing the team.
