The appointment is subject to a £2,000 Welcome Payment.
The payment will be made in two instalments (50% upon commencement in post and 50% after the completion of a successful 6 month probation period). A two year retention clause is applicable to the payment. The payment is not available to employees who already work for the Council.
An opportunity has arisen to join our Development Management Team at Derbyshire Dales District Council at a senior level. The District has a wealth of stunning landscapes, picturesque villages, historic buildings, over 1325 are listed buildings; conservation areas; archaeological sites and monuments plus historic parks and gardens. Dealing with a varied caseload of mainly complex work you will need to be an experienced and confident planner with a proven track record of delivering high quality development, whilst being able to maximise the benefits of new development for existing and future residents of the District.
The successful candidate must be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure. You must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to contribute to a high-quality service to our customers. We would expect the successful candidate to have had at least 3 years’ Development Management experience and to be able to demonstrate excellent Planning judgement for appointment to Grade 9. A minimum of 3 years’ experience at Senior Planning Officer level or in an equivalent role is required to undertake line management duties or to exercise delegated authority at Grade 10.
