We are now looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role
As a Senior Planning Officer, you will be part of a team delivering our development management service, handling planning applications and other related activity.
Your overall aim will be to conserve and enhance the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park whilst supporting the social and economic well-being of our communities.
Supporting the Development Manager, you’ll receive and assess planning applications and accounting for social, environmental and economic considerations.
You’ll provide advice and liaise with the public, external organisations and Authority colleagues, whilst assisting internal colleagues with up-to-date, relevant legislation and policy information.
Additionally, you will:
- Manage at least two team members
- Authorise the issuing of decision notices and plans
- Prepare and present planning applications, statements and evidence
- Visit application sites for assessment
- Engage with planning policy and the review of the National Park Local Plan
About You
To be considered as a Senior Planning Officer, you will need:
- A degree in Town Planning (or equivalent) and professional membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
- Experience of working in a development management role
- Experience of managing a team and motivating and coaching colleagues
- Experience of presenting reports to committees or liaising with members and appearing at public hearings/inquiries
- An understanding of protected landscapes and National Park purposes in relation to development management, planning policy and process
- Excellent knowledge of planning, relevant legislation and national planning policy and guidance
