Senior Policy Officer

Job Description

Working in a hybrid style, based at home and our City Square office, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. This post is within the Chief Executive’s Service which works to add value to services across the Council, by developing a corporate and customer focus and supporting services to achieve local and national policy priorities. We encourage learning and promote best practice, working with services to cultivate a positive and innovative culture to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of all our services as well as co-ordinating joint working between services and partners. Requirements

You will have a degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area, or relevant experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

You will assist the Head of Chief Executive’s Service in contributing to the formulation and delivery of policy objectives and priorities and the efficient and effective delivery of services. You will be the Lead Officer for the Council in managing the corporate complaints processes and systems. This will include conducting detailed analysis of complaints made to the Council and preparing reports for the Council’s senior leaders and committees, to ensure the Council meets its obligations regarding complaints handling. You will lead on corporate policy areas as allocated and participate in national forums, as appropriate. This will include carrying out research into current and/or new policy areas.

The Individual

You will have evidence of knowledge and understanding in leading in social policy areas, excellent verbal and written skills, able to produce high quality reports/documents. You will have evidence of leading and facilitation of meetings, training and events, excellent analytical and IT skills, including experience of Microsoft packages. You will have excellent team worker who is also able to work using their own initiative with the ability to work to strict deadlines and manage time well.
