About the Role

Working as part of the Workforce Policy team, you will assist the Head of Workforce and Executive Business to support the WLGA’s member authorities in relation to a range of mostly strategic workforce issues, supporting our role as the employers’ organisation for local government in Wales, contributing to national developments around pay, terms and conditions and working in social partnership with trade unions and Welsh Government officials and Ministers.

The role provides a mix of policy development activity to influence the national policy agenda on behalf of local government, collaborative working with our partners and wider support for our member authorities to address key strategic challenges. It provides support for the Joint Council for Wales, Schools Social Partnership Forum, and Human Resource Directors (HRD) Network, including the delivery of an allied work program and priorities and supports wider social partnership and fair work activity as required on behalf of local government, contributing to the work of the Social Partnership Council and Workforce Partnership Council. 

We are looking for an experienced Workforce Policy Officer with sound HR skills, knowledge and experience who can deal with a wide range of day to day, strategic and project-related HR, and workforce challenges within a predominantly professional environment.
