SalaryBerry Recruitment are looking for a Senior Policy Planner to work for a local authority on a 6 month contract.
Hybrid working between the Lyndhurst office and remotely - likely to be 1 to 2 days office based per week but this is negotiable.
Working hours 7 hours 30 mins per day (7 on Friday) anywhere between 8am and 6pm.
Hourly pay rate £33.23
An experienced town planner is required with particular experience in planning policy development for a temporary period.
Qualifications - Membership of (or eligible for) the Royal Town Planning Institute, which requires a relevant degree level (or equivalent).
Main Duties:
- Assist with preparation of the initial stages of Local Plan Review
- Assist with drafting and editing the Issues and Scope consultation document
- Working with the Policy Team on the research and preparation of background papers
- Input to content for briefings and working group meetings
The following policy areas need support where experience from potential candidates would be desirable:
- Open Space
- Transport
- Green & Blue Infrastructure
- Minerals & Waste Planning
- Regeneration and town/local centres
- Demographic implications
- Neighbourhood Plans
- Housing products to meet different needs e.g. self-build
The following skills and experience are essential:
- At least five years relevant experience including minimum of 3 years at a senior officer level in planning policy
- Preparation of statutory development plans
- An up to date knowledge of national planning policy, including the implications of recent legislation changes
- Processing a local plan through a review process
